Recruited by two multinational corporations in 2010, AT&T Mobility in partnership with Apple to assist in the re-launch of the Apple iPhone 4. Prior to joining AT&T Mobility, John James was tapped to run and lead the Scripps Network Interactive Affiliate Sales Content Distribution Los Angeles office, where he built HGTV to over 100 million subscribers nationwide and launched six major cable networks including The Food Network, DIY, Fine Living and Great American Country, and two Hi Def channels. Prior to his work with Scripps, John James was with Nestlé USA where he was responsible for sales, inventory forecasting and logistics for nationally branded products Carnation Instant Breakfast Bars, Carnation Instant Breakfast, Hills Brothers, MJB, and Sarks Coffee.

John James earned his B.A. in Media Management and his B.A. in Liberal Arts from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. He is a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom.

  • Successfully negotiated exclusive technology supplier contract with the largest retail chain in the Philippines, the Robinsons Stores, representing a total of 37 stores.
  • Developed the AT&T Mobility small business unit marketing category for wireless mobility sales, increasing sales by $800K.
  • Built and managed a team of 8 sales and marketing professionals at Scripps Networks Interactive that led the region to first place in sales and revenues, achieving a 99% staff retention rate, and 5 staff member promotions, while successfully launching 6 Cable Networks: HGTV, Food Network, DIY, Fine Living and GAC.
  • Grew Scripps Networks Interactive revenue from $30M in 2000 to $67M in 2009.
  • Successfully negotiated 25 key deal terms with all regional affiliate sales contract renewals, distribution and new carriage agreements, and retransmission consent (RTC) for operators that included but not limited to the following: Time Warner National Division, Comcast West Division, Charter Communications, QWEST (CenturyLink) and Cable One from 2001 through 2009.
