Course Four: The Collective Voice

At the heart of a thriving culture are engaged individuals with a shared purpose. Although, the awareness of their shared purpose and the call to this noble profession can get lost in the high stress and competitiveness of the current healthcare environment. Within that lies the opportunity for teams to come together and cultivate a workspace that encourages respect, supports open and clear communication and focuses on the individual as well as the collective development.

A culture of support and trust allows for teams to flourish because they can lean on each other in their shared endeavor of taking care of people. However, this is something that is co-created and promoted through the regular recognition of their common focus. Every team member has the possibility to add value and strengthen the collective culture or to deplete and distract the health of the team.

Through the practice of empowered communication, for example, teams can begin to establish a work environment that is inspired, restorative and enlarging. A healthy and productive culture is derived from teamwork, honesty, and valuing each other and our respective roles. It’s less about hierarchy and position and more about honoring the contribution of every person on the team. This fosters a healthy space that is the foundation for experiencing personal and job fulfillment, and increasing patient satisfaction and productivity.

The purpose of this course is to support teams within healthcare to create respectful, collaborative and empowered relationships encouraging effective and inspired patient care. Healing the Fragmentation – Come together as a cooperative and collaborative team and open to the shared sense of purpose for choosing into the profession.

A Collective Voice – Co-creatively explore how to honor the team while also honoring the individual.
